Common Ground is producing REPUBLIC OF SOUND in Goldenbridge Cemetery in association with Glasnevin Trust.
REPUBLIC OF SOUND is one of Common Ground’s arts programmes. Since early 2019 musicians Maeve and Colm O’Hara and Alex Petcu Colan have been working with 3rd class pupils from Our Lady of Lourdes NS Inchicore, James Band and local women. The aim of REPUBLIC OF SOUND is to unite, motivate, inspire and respond to the local neighbourhood’s social and cultural heritage.
Since March 2020 ourselves, our brilliant musicians, children, women and the fantastic James Band have had to rethink how we can and will engage with the public and each other. As part of MusicTown we’re bringing the power of a live music event with James Band, Maeve and Colm O’Hara and local women all through a pre-recording process on the site of the stunning Goldenbridge Cemetery. We hope REPUBLIC OF SOUND will lift your spirits and inspire us all to continue to unite, respond to and celebrate the amazing community spirit of Inchicore, Dublin 8 and beyond during this pandemic. Stay safe everyone.
Common Ground is an arts organisation based in Inchicore, in Dublin’s southwest inner city and for 20 years has worked to progress a diverse cultural model that embraces the challenging social and economic realities of our neighbourhood locations in Dublin 8 & 12. In 2019 Common Ground became the new cultural tenant of the Lodge at Goldenbridge Cemetery, Inchicore.
